Tiro Motlogeloa has become synonymous with business leadership, strategy, and transaction advisory services with a career spanning over 15 years working for South Africa’s top financial institutions and harnessed over his entrepreneurial ventures aimed at transformational development that seeks to serve the untapped and underserviced rural market.
Tiro started his career as a junior statistician and economist in the Group Economic Research Department at ABSA, one of the major Banks in South Africa. Over time, he has progressed to senior roles and most recently held the position of Executive Associate to the Managing Director of Old Mutual which saw him coordinate strategic initiatives for the Rest of Africa deliverables. This naturally allowed him to acquire a skill set that allowed him to overlook business, human capital, and risk from a global perspective. This has enabled him to understand complex roles and narrow down options to effective and progressive decisions that have proved mutual to business and all its stakeholders.
Tiro currently forms part of the business leadership at Goalfix which is financial modelling consultancy established in 1998 which brings a wealth of business experience, financial expertise, and acumen to both the models they develop, build and review as well as the highly acclaimed financial modelling training courses and since 2018 has been the only South African training provider certified by the internationally acclaimed Financial Modelling Institute.
In 2017 he founded Agardo Investments which is a sector agnostic investment company aimed at serving SMME’s with and not limited to Business and growth consulting, transaction services advisory and Multi Family Office Services. As acting Managing Director, he was instrumental in assisting and guiding SEI l, a public unlisted company capitalised at over R200 000 000.00, to a level of compliance last seen in 2014. He has guided the company to a level where both governance and compliance are a natural fabric of the company. He holds both the role of Deputy Chairperson and Investment Committee Chairperson. In his role as the investment committee chairperson at SEI l he was responsible for crafting a new investment strategy that seeks to deliver a diverse revenue stream that will ensure the company becomes a beacon of success in transformation.
Tiro Motlogeloa holds directorship in a few entities, most notably, SEI1(Selective Empowerment Investments l), and Iridium Private Equity, a Section 12 J, venture capital company (VCC). Iridium Private Equity is the only majority-black owned venture capital company in South Africa and in 2022 it concluded a R1million capital raising transaction in the FMCG sector. Through his leadership the advisory firm recently completed a R100 million capital raising transaction in the financial services sector with an innovate product for the mass market as well as a lending institution that seeks to tap into the untapped and underserviced rural market.
